Skaters in these classes learn how to maneuver faster and become more agile on the ice. Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of hockey skating skills. We teach all elements without a stick or puck.

Novice Novice Hockey Skills

Age 12-under
Must have passed SPS 3 or Basic 1 or have the program coordinator’s permission.

  • Hockey skating drills
  • Turning skills
  • Power stroking
  • Forward crossovers
  • Skating with your hockey stick

Adult Novice Hockey Skills

Ages 18+
No prior hockey experience needed. Full hockey equipment, including helmet and facemask is required.

  • Develop basic hockey skills in the adult player


Adult Advanced Hockey Skills

Ages 18+
Some ice hockey experience required. Full hockey equipment, including helmet and facemask is required.

Our Mission

The mission of St. Louis Skating Club is to promote, encourage and improve all areas of amateur skating, in all disciplines. St. Louis Skating Club encourages a fraternal feeling among ice skaters and strives to raise the standard and level of figure skating by encouraging testing and competitive skating and by providing skaters access to qualified club-approved coaches.
