The 19th annual National Showcase kicks off this week in Norwood, Massachusetts at The Skating Club of Boston. The Showcase division of figure skating blends artistry and theatricality with skating through props and costumes to give audiences entertaining performances.
Over seven days of competition, The Skating Club of Boston will welcome 491 skaters competing in seven different categories: emotional performance, choreographic artistry, lyrical pop, character performance, comedic impressions, interpretive and open inflatable. The skaters can participate as single skaters, duets, trios, mini-production ensembles or production ensembles.
The week-long competition begins Monday, July 31, and concludes Sunday, August 6 with the Parade of Champions, where winners from each event compete for the ultimate prize, the Parade of Champions Richard Dwyer Trophy.
